About

I'm Leah Morrigan, editor, (technical) writer, and designer at Polished Copy Editing & Writing Services. Since 2010, Polished has strived to make your ideas clear and concise, your information easily accessible, and your content enriching and enjoyable to read.
HOW I ROLL
I love to organize information in thought, words, and in pictures. As a logical creative, I'm into clear communication and good design. I like logic, facts and research; good layouts, detail, order, and consistency. I'm also a fan of plain language.
NONFICTION EDITING
Editing is a fascinating industry because it is so varied, so as a freelance editor, I never know what I'll get to work on next. My experience ranges from nonfiction projects like legal articles, theses, business writing, media content and contracts to acting as the in-house editor for a provincially-funded not for profit mental health organization in Ontario, which included managing contributing writers' work and editing and rewriting academic journal articles for the organization's monthly newsletter. I'm currently editing a cutting edge book on legal tech and just finished editing my first novel!
FICTION EDITING
I believe that variety is the spice of life and I'm not afraid to try new projects. Usually, I am a nonfiction editor, but over the last year, I tried my hand at editing not only my first novel, but editing my first novel that was translated from another language. (With a Theatre degree and dozens of plays under my belt, I have a good grasp of character and the Aristotelean elements of drama, so I felt qualified.) It has been a great experience.
WRITING
My writing has been published in major Canadian digital media such as the Toronto Star, Huffington Post, and the Canadian Healthcare Network. I have contributed web marketing content for Australian readers, wrote my own column as a content specialist for an online UK magazine, and had a guest column in the Toronto Star's small business section.
